O+R Holiday Gift Guide

The holidays are a time of magic and wonder. It’s a time for family and food and tradition, but stuffing all that merry-making into what feels like a month-long party can be a bit stressful.

As part of your health and wellness ritual, we here at Onyx + Rose are always thinking of ways to help you live and feel your best. In that spirit, we chatted with the marketing mavens at Onyx + Rose for their ideas, go-to’s, and brand-news to help with your holiday shopping and to make gifting and getting sublime. Because hey, who best to craft a gift guide than the people who know trends better than anyone?

O+R:  It’s the season for traditions. Got any gift-giving themes, games or traditions that liven up your holiday?

Nida: I read recently about simplifying Christmas and overabundance by limiting gifts to “one thing you want, one thing you need, one thing to wear, and one thing to read.” I love this idea because it helps bring some meaning to the season.

Cathleen: My siblings and I only get each other gifts from antique shops and thrift stores. It’s fun to see what we find, and bonus points for sustainability.

Kate: My twin brothers and I are all foodies and enjoy wine, so it’s fun to spoil ourselves. You can find the three of us in a new restaurant over the holidays.

Emily: It’s not Christmas without Secret Santa with my (35+) extended family and grandma directing the chaos.

O+R:  Is there a gift you’re looking forward to giving (or getting)?

Emily: My sister-in-law is crazy for Please and Thank you Cookie Dough. I can’t wait to see her face when I give it to her. I may even preheat the oven!

Cathleen: A few of my friends are about to start their careers in marketing.  Rather than give them an ugly sweater or a Jelly Of The Month Club thing, I’m going with a book that was important to me when I was getting started. I hope they’re not reading this, but it’s “Junior” by Thomas Kemeny. And I love books with personalized inscriptions — such a sweet personal touch.

Nida: I love gifts that are handmade and thoughtful, like a seasonally inspired flower arrangement or beautifully iced cake that has personal touches. But, if someone wants to gift me a new pair of Stuart Weitzman 5050 boots, I won’t be mad.

Kate: I love to gift experiences. A cooking class, a bourbon tour, a show, whatever. This year I’m gifting my mom a day at a local flower shop where we’ll learn how to make floral arrangements.

O+R: Peppermint-Latte-Fueled Speed Round. Ideal gift for the home?

Cathleen: Anyone who knows me knows that I love neon signs. I’ve been eyeing this one on for weeks:

Nida: Diptyque candles. They’re worth the splurge.

Emily: Did Nida say candles? I’m in for Capri Blue Aloha Orchid Candles.  I am obsessed with the scent and have never found anything like it.

O+R: Favorite beauty products to give or receive?

Emily:  Kopari products are always a great gift, and they have some really great bundles this holiday.

Cathleen: If you don’t find a book for me, you know I’ll love anything from Lady Gaga’s beauty line: HAUS Labs. I’m a long time Lady Gaga fan and glam enthusiast, so there’s not anything from HAUS that I wouldn’t want to cover my face in.

O+R: Will you be giving or receiving any CBD products this year?

Nida: I’ll be gifting our Pure Bloom oil for a few folks who I think would love the benefits of CBD, but feel unsure of how to pick a product on their own. It’s 100% THC free, so a great choice for just about anybody. I can’t think of a single person who wouldn’t appreciate feeling less stressed out or getting better sleep!

Kate: Our Botanical Bombs are absolutely awesome stocking stuffers, and a great way to unwind after the holiday madness.

Emily: Pure Bloom oil is perfect for people who are new to CBD.

O+R: What about an out-of-the-box idea?

Cathleen: Go with an Airbnb gift card. It feels like gifting someone a vacation.

Kate: Last year I gifted Vinebox to a few people, and it was a big hit. It lets you try different wines from various regions so you know what you like, and when to splurge for the bottle.  I’m planning on gifting that a few more times this year.

O+R: Last question. What do you want most for yourself?

Nida: It can be tricky to get all my friends together at the same place at the same time, so I would love to just have a cozy night in or sleepover with all my friends where we have lots of tasty snacks, a nice fire, and watch holiday movies.

Emily: SNOW!

Kate: New mom here. I’ll take 8 hours of sleep and a boozy brunch with the girls.

Cathleen: Peace on Earth. (Or anything from Summer Fridays!)

We hope that helps. And we hope that while you’re dashing through the falling snow for that last-minute mall trip, hosting a house full of relatives or trying to keep the family dog out of the Christmas tree, you remember to make time for yourself and your Onyx + Rose health and wellness ritual.

Our gift-givers and everyone at Onyx + Rose wishes you peace, love, joy and good health this holiday season.
